It is mandatory for the users signed up with Allegion to setup and use multi-factor authentication during their logins. However, at times, it is likely that the enrolled MFA method should be reset in the event of a changed mobile number or a change in authenticator app. In order to support the users needing to reset, a new feature called "Reset MFA" is introduced where users themselves can reset their enrolled method(s).
Pre-Condition: User has enrolled to an MFA method before.
Steps to follow:
- User logs into Manage MFA or clicks on the link from the login page as shown below.
-
Upon successfully logging in, user will see the enrolled methods. Please note that the ellipsis(⋮) is shown against the enrolled methods only.
-
Clicking on the ellipsis (⋮) shows the possible options and reset is among them.
-
Clicking on the Reset warns the user to confirm as the action is irreversible. If the user confirms to proceed, then, a new tab is opened where the user can newly enroll to the selected method.
- Here on, it is similar to that of a new enrollment where the user chooses the authenticator app to scan the QR or enters a new mobile number to complete enrollment.
- If authenticator is being reset, then, a QR is shown as below to proceed to using a new authenticator app to enroll.
-
If a mobile phone is chosen, then, the below flow appears

- Upon successfully resetting the method (re-enroll), the user can close the tab.
